CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Board of Education (SBE) will convene its regularly scheduled meeting at 8:30 a.m. on October 19, 2023. The meeting will be virtual and is open to the public.

The SBE will take action on the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) recommendations to approve teacher and leader evaluation systems in eight school districts based on meeting the statewide standards set forth for the evaluation of school administrators and teachers. The board will also consider approval of the 2024 board goals and a professional service contract for facilitating the implementation of the Profile of a Graduate.

The board will open with a discussion with Dr. Scott Marion, President and Executive Director of the National Center for the Improvement of Educational Assessment. As a national leader in assessment design, Marion will speak with the board about federal requirements and flexibilities related to standards, assessment and accountability.

The meeting will also include presentations by Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs from Eastern Wyoming College that receive support through Perkins V funding. Presentations will cover various degrees and certificates available in nursing, cosmetology, welding and veterinary technology.

All SBE meetings are open to the public. The public may attend the meeting virtually by registering in advance here.  After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
