CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Board of Education (SBE) will hold a regular meeting on February 22, 2016 in Cheyenne. The meeting will be held in the basement of the Hathaway Building at 2300 Capitol Ave, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Board will hear reports from the SBE Coordinator and Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) Liaison on topics that include the 2016 Legislative Session, Native American education, and an update on the Every Student Succeeds Act. Status reports will be provided on the Wyoming Content and Performance Standards for science and language arts. Lastly, SBE Committee chairs will report out and board members will give information on conferences attended.
The board will also hear an update from the State Superintendent, and a presentation from Education Northwest in regards to the Wyoming Statewide System of Support. The board will also convene as the State Board of Vocational Education. Information on Perkins performance indicators for 2014-2015, the Perkins performance improvement plan for reading and math and the upcoming STEM conference will be presented.
In addition to the above agenda items, the board will elect officers for the 2016 year and attend the Senate and House Education Committee meetings at the Jonah Financial Center. The full agenda is available here: edu.wyoming.gov/board/meetingmaterials/.
