CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Board of Education (SBE) will meet on October 24-25 at the Park County Library, Grizzly Hall, 1500 Heart Mountain St. in Cody. The first day will run from 12:30-5 p.m. Day two will begin at 10 a.m.

Park County District #6 Superintendent Ray Schulte will provide a presentation to the SBE at 1 p.m. on Thursday, October 24.

The SBE also will hear reports from board coordinator Dr. Thomas Sachse on the Basket of Goods Task Force Report, preparation for the November Joint Education Interim Committee meeting, and research possibilities regarding the state accountability system. Additional reports and discussions will occur concerning civics education, a recommendation for the Math Extended Standards, a standards timeline update, and possibly Chapter 10 rules for Computer Science standards. The board is awaiting a formal opinion from Attorney General Bridget Hill on priority standards, so they can thoughtfully consider the implications for the state standards.

The board will also consider taking action on Chapter 29 Leader and Teacher Evaluation System emergency rules, approval of the Carbon #1 teacher evaluation system, part VI of the board’s administrative procedures, and the finalization of the board’s report to the Joint Education Interim Committee.

Meeting materials, agendas, and minutes for SBE meetings are now available through BoardDocs. The public can still search or look back at previous meetings’ minutes and materials through the board’s website.
