Key topics to include ESSA planning, statewide assessment proposals and board policies

CHEYENNE, Wyo.  – The Wyoming State Board of Education (SBE) will hold its monthly meeting by teleconference on November 18, 2016 from 1:00-3:30 p.m. via GoToMeeting.

State Superintendent Jillian Balow will give updates on the Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) and its work on Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) planning. The board will discuss legislative bills and agendas, long-term and interim goals, board policies 23 (voting method) and 24 (ethics) as well as technical revisions to the Chapter 31 graduation rules. Additionally, the board will hear updates on Chapter 6 (Accreditation) and 10 (Standards), the statewide assessment requests for proposals and updates from board committee chairs. Bob Jensen will then deliver a brief presentation to the board about civic education.

The board will take action on the Hot Springs County School District No. 1 Early Childhood BOCES agreement, the requested technical revisions to the Chapter 31 graduation rules, and the board’s own policies. The full agenda is available here.
