CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Board of Education (SBE) will hold a regular meeting on August 18, 2016 starting at  12:00  p.m. at the Wyoming Contractors Association Regional Training Center located at 2220 Bryan Stock Trail, Casper.

The board will hear reports from the SBE coordinator and Wyoming Department of Education (WDE) liaison about legislative reports, the National Association of State Boards of Education meetings, strategic planning, updating the SBE policy and governance manual, and the upcoming annual SBE planning retreat. Status reports will be provided on the Every Student Succeeds Act and the state assessment request for proposals. Afterwards, the board will hear an update on the Wyoming accountability system from Dr. Mike Flicek and Dr. Julie Magee.

State Superintendent Jillian Balow will also share an update with the board, and Rob Black will share information on the 2016 Native American Education Conference.

In addition to the above agenda items, the board will take action on the Chapter 3 Rules of Practice and Procedure, approve the September 1 report to the Wyoming State Legislature and consider adoption of presented SBE policies. The board will then convene as the Wyoming State Board of Vocational Education on August 18, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. and hear updates from WDE career and technical education staff.
