SBE TO CONVENE IN ROCK SPRINGS FOR ANNUAL RETREAT

CHEYENNE - The Wyoming State Board of Education (SBE) will meet in person in Rock Springs to hold its annual retreat starting at 9 a.m. on June 11 and at 8 a.m. on June 12.
The retreat will focus on state accountability and will include a review of the current system and potential modifications. The board will also look at new flexibilities within federal accountability and how it may be considered within the Wyoming school accountability model.
The retreat will include a session on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and how it is accelerating change across multiple fields of study. Discussion will include AI’s impact on education and its implications for education leadership.
While in Rock Springs, the board will tour multiple sites, including the soda ash mine and manufacturing facility, to better understand workforce and career opportunities in the area and the relationship to Wyoming’s Profile of a Graduate. The board will also tour the Career and Technical Education facilities at Western Wyoming College and Sweetwater County School District #1. An evening meeting has been scheduled with student representatives from Sweetwater County School District #2 and the Southwest Wyoming Manufacturing Partnership.
The SBE retreat will take place at Western Wyoming Community College, HyFlex Room (IS Lab), 2500 College Drive, Rock Springs, WY. The public can join virtually by registering in advance to attend on June 11 and June 12. After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email with instructions to join the meeting.
