SBE TO MEET IN RIVERTON TO DISCUSS CTE, SCHOOL SUCCESS, AND BOARD RECOGNITIONS
CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Board of Career and Technical Education (SBCTE) and the State Board of Education (SBE) will meet in Riverton at Central Wyoming College at 9 a.m. on April 30. The board will welcome a new board member, Julia Gentle, representing SBE Appointment District #1.
The board will convene as the SBCTE to hear updates from the Wyoming Association of Career and Technical Education. The board is scheduled to receive public comment and take action on the recommended state performance indicators for the Perkins V Plan.
Following the adjournment of the SBCTE, the board will reconvene as the SBE to hear presentations on various education initiatives and work occurring across the state.
Fremont County School District #24 will present on programs that foster student engagement and increase student achievement. Cody Middle School and Kemmerer Schools will present on the success achieved in their respective schools through the implementation of the Building Assets, Reducing Risk program.
The Wyoming Charter School Authorizing Board and its SBE representative will provide information to the board on its work with public charter schools.
Additionally, Johnson County School District #1 and Niobrara County School District #1, and their respective district boundary boards, will present proposed changes to reorganize the size of their local school boards. The SBE is anticipated to take action on the proposals during the May meeting.
Action items before the SBE this month include requests for alternative schedules and a request from Fremont County School District #21 to change the district’s teacher evaluation system.
