SBE TO RECOGNIZE AND CELEBRATE CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION IN WYOMING
CHEYENNE – The Wyoming State Board of Career and Technical Education (SBCTE) and the State Board of Education (SBE) will meet virtually at 9:00 a.m. on February 19.
The board will convene as the SBCTE to recognize and celebrate work occurring across districts and post-secondary in the area of Career and Technical Education.
“February is CTE month and provides the opportunity to build awareness on the importance and impact of Career and Technical Education programs across our state. All pathways ultimately lead students to their future careers, and CTE programs empower students to apply their knowledge and skills in preparing for career and college success,” commented Dr. Mark Mathern, Chair of the SBCTE. “Wyoming citizens turned out in volume to share their expectations for Wyoming graduates. This resulted in the creation of the Profile of a Graduate and graduation standards. The board recognizes that the experiences and application of learning afforded through CTE programs are key in delivering on those expectations and serving the students of Wyoming.”
The graduation rate of students taking two or more CTE courses continues to exceed the state’s overall graduation rate, with the 2025 CTE rate at 94.9%. The SBCTE will also receive updates and take action on the Perkins state performance targets.
Following the adjournment of the SBCTE, the board will reconvene as the SBE to receive public comment on the implementation of Chapter 10 Rules on Content and Performance Standards.
