SBE TO CONVENE TO DISCUSS RULES FOR GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS AND CONTENT AND PERFORMANCE STANDARDS

CHEYENNE - The Wyoming State Board of Education (SBE) will meet in person to hold its annual retreat and June meeting starting at 8 a.m. on June 12 and 13.
The retreat will be dedicated to strategic planning and setting the board's direction for the next year. Members will engage in focused discussions on standards, assessment, accountability, and accreditation with breakout sessions to prioritize tasks in each area.
On June 13, the board will tour Powell High School and Northwest College Career & Technical Education programs. The SBE will then convene its regular meeting at 9:30 a.m. The board will receive updates, including consideration for the promulgation of Chapter 31 Graduation Requirements and Chapter 10 Content and Performance Standards, including World Language & Cultures, Extended Math, and Extended Science standards. The Wyoming Department of Education will present accreditation recommendations for public schools, excluding state-authorized public charter schools. Additionally, the board will receive annual reports from all public charter schools.
The SBE retreat will take place at Northwest College Student Center, Building #10, Room 100 in Powell, Wyoming. The public can join virtually by registering in advance to attend on June 12 and June 13. After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email with instructions to join the meeting.
